This is true. In years past, when I was taking groups backpacking there, the less experienced folks were always in disbelief about how chilly it could get up there while there was a heat wave in the low lands.

A girl in one of my groups was woke up early in the morning by one of the free ranging cows licking dew off her tent
Scared the poor girl half to death

That reminds me, I need to get out the big blue tarp & repair the torn edge with Gorilla Tape... or maybe I'll do it up there so I'll have help to spread it out for inspection & repair.
We may not even need it... but you never know up there.

I like the sign at the trailhead with the warning about the weather conditions. Had the family up there in May, took a picture with everyone around the sign. Beautiful, sunny day. By the time our little hike was over about an hour later, it was raining cats & dogs and the temp dropped at least 15 degrees. But hey, at least we were warned, right?

In theory, there's no difference between theory and reality.
    In reality, there is.

Yep, they say "If you don't like the weather in the high lands, give it a few minutes & it will change"

Hey! I'd like to join the Grayson Festivities if there's room at the inn for another hammock?

Glad you're gonna make it Loki

I think I am gonna be able to actually stay the weekend now as long as it's OK to bring my dog. She's a real sweetheart and she's real quiet.
