Hello All! I thought I would jump in and introduce myself. Hammocking and Backpacking are all new to me but I hope to become familiar very soon. I Have been car camping for years. I was wondering if there was anyone in the Richmond VA area that can / wants to take a Noob under their wing please let me know. I find this whole idea really interesting. More to come.........

Welcome from a VA transplant. I grew up just East of Richmond in New Kent. If I was back in VA we would definitely hit the trail.
Welcome to the addiction. I'm in the Richmond area and would be great to share notes with a Richmond Hanmmock group. I do mostly motorcycle riding/camping but I am sure there is some cross over. This website is full of a lot of great instructors. I think Blue Ridge Mountain Sports is associated with some backpacking clubs and and they hold classes.

I'm from Richmond but I reside in the New River Valley area! Welcome to endless info! Watch the Shug's videos they will help a lot! If you want to join us on a hang or two or three! Let me know! We are a hiking group of around 20 guys that try to go every other month! Most of us have kids and wives so you will not see everyone on all the hikes! We are heading to Roan mtn at the end of April, let me know if this interests you and we can make sure you are outfitted properly!
