Why nobody makes big asym-diamond tarps?

Why nobody makes big asym-diamond tarps? Ok, even non asym, where are they? I'm new to hammocks, but I saw only JRB 8x8 tarp (that is not in production as I can see).

    What is the reason?

They should be extremely easy to setup and give a good coverage..

p.s. I have searched a little over the forum and didn't find such topic.

Probably because they don't provide as much protection from wind. A Hex Tarp gives better side protection while saving weight over a square. But, still requires two more stakes than a diamond.

As the size gets bigger I think it would become increasingly difficult to keep the tarp pitched tautly with only two stakes. Aadding guylines and tarp pullouts would alleviate this problem but then the side coverage is still less than a hex tarp.

Not sure what size you're looking for, but Hennessey makes the asym "diamond" in two different sizes. The larger one is 137" ridgeline x 120" across diagonally.

Claytor has large diamonds for as little as $50 or $60 delivered.

We got in that deal last year and got 2 funky forest tarps for $30 each. Can't find them that price anymore, but they're big....and in my opinion bit too long. I've been tossing around the idea of shortening the ridgeline a bit. It hangs nice and gives excellent coverage. It's really a strange shape...thus the "funky". It's also not a super light weight one, weighs a pound, but I thought I'd throw that out there for ya anyways. Quick and easy to put up.

Hmm, I thought they are the same size like big HH asyms (Hyperlight has 132x105). Or I don't see something?

    That was my thought too.

Yeah, I already asked them about this (I can't upgrade rainfly on their site for Hyperlight hammock to larger ones, no such option).

I don't know why I'm so scared of two more stakes. Maybe I should by some big rainfly, and later small one, to have some fun. :-)

I had a 12'x12' Guide Gear and a small diamond tarp. Found the Guide Gear too big & the diamond too small. Recently got a WL Big Daddy (without tie outs) and am finding that to be a very good compromise to have as a single tarp to carry. Wind & weather are always an issue in mountain country.
