The Great American Backyard Campout, GHSP,VA (6/22-23/2012)

As we began planning for the 2nd Annual Grayson County Fall Festival, (http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=49857 ) I was presented with another opportunity for HF members to camp out & demonstrate hammock camping at it's finest.

One of our ranger friends at Grayson Highlands State Park (GHSP) has told of an event called "The Great American Backyard Campout"

Ranger Marcia has already reserved the "group site" at the GHSP camp ground, but I would like to see if there is enough interest among HF members to keep it reserved. Maybe we will be able to tell by late April.

I am not sure what my work scheduled will be by then, but I'd certainly like to do it. If I'm going to camp in summer, I like to go to some of the higher elevations that we have here in the south east. GHSP is one of my summer favorites. Guaranteed to be at least 10, if not 15 or 20 degrees cooler than were I live in the Piedmont of NC.

I'm interested in both. Just me for the June event, and probably the family for the September event.

Too far out to give a 100% locked in for June, but I'll guessimate 90%

I hear ya Mike. I think a lot of us will be playing it by ear at this point
I hope it works out that we can get a good group together for both trips.

Does not appear to be much interest yet. I know I'm planning to be on the AT in SNP headed toward MD and PA, so not likely I am coming at this point.
Time to let rangers know something about HF plans for this event??????

Lump and I would be interested in attending if this is still a go. We'll even see if we can steal our godchildren away from their parents.

We should be at the fall festival again, but I don't see this one at this time.
