I just got some 09/70 needles at Joannes and they work much better than the 12/110 needles.
+1 on the 70s
70's should work, I do just about everything with an 80. Just keep in mind if you start skipping stitches up the needle size.
It depends on the thread size... for gp thread, the smaller needles are great. The tex70 thread required me to switch to a larger needle...

Schmetz microtex 80's seem to cope with it well.
Which ever one on hand that you can successfully thread with the spools you have in your collection. I like a big needle because I can see the stinking eye to get the thread through.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

I rely on the force when threading needles.
I've found needle threaders help greatly in keeping the number of four-letter words to a minimum when I'm working.
Just a thought.
