    Wisconsin Here

Hey I have been interested in hammock camping for a long time. I am going hunting to Colorado this fall and need a place to sleep off the ground so I ordered a Hennessy last night and I am stocked about trying it. I do have a question and that is where do most of you put your packs while you sleep?

    Thank you in advance

Welcome to the forum! I hang my backpack on the hammock rope against a tree at one end of the hammock. Backpack and gear only! I hang all food items on a bear line or put them in a bear vault.

    Welcome aboard!!

I put my pack right under me. Food somewhere else when I can.
When it seems like the night will last forever
And there's nothing left to do but count the years
When the strings of my heart start to sever
And stones fall from my eyes instead of tears
I will walk alone by the black muddy river
And dream me a dream of my own

Keep mine on a plastic sheet, or tied to a tree via paracord. Depends on the rainfall and amount of varmints in the area.

+1 on 1mtnndude's comment, hang food separate from camp, in fact don't eat near where you sleep if you can help it.
    EDIT: I'm from Oshkosh BTW...

Welcome Flyman. I usually just put my pack under the foot end of my hammock at night. If it's not going to rain I may hang it from one of the tree I hang on. Enjoy the forum.
