I just wanted to say Hi! New member here and just left my Wal-mart with 11 yds of ripstop for a DIY bridge.
Now I just need to score a sewing machine. I just missed a working $15 cira 1950 Mothers machine by a day

Wow a DIY bridge out of the gate. Great choice my friend. Keep

Welcome to Hammock Forums. Happy hanging.

Dang it! 2-3 times a week I cruise 3-5 of the Wallyworlds that I drive by in my daily pursuits. In my neck of the woods, ripstop has been scarce. For a while I was always seeing it. I wish my local stores would get some.
Sorry, I'm just jealous!
Yea- I should have elaborated.
The whole reason I started backpacking this year is because I have a 7 year old step son that told me one night that all his friends and their dads have a "thing" they do together. He wanted a "thing" too. Of course, deeply touched - I said name it. He wanted to camp/explore like Bear Grylls. No car camping with this kid. If you havent heard of Bear Grylls come backpacking with us and every 15 minutes he will ask if Bear has ever been here.
In short - I will be building two hammocks. My back and 4 knee surgeries (2 on each knee) just cant handle a tent. I tried many pads with little luck. I hope hanging helps......or I will need more pain meds.
Welcome to hanging. I too switched to hanging after my ninth knee operation. Working construction, downing 3 oxy's every 3 hours around the clock - that was until I had both knees replaced @ 40 yrs. I still love hanging and am getting ready to go to summer camp with my scout troop. Of the 42 of us attending, 13 will be in hammocks.
Good luck, and enjoy.

Hey BIG-E,
How 'bout posting some pics of the camp setup when you get back? I'm currently the only hanger in my son's troop.
