My grandfather used to use his for sewing leather and other heavy materials that would have torn up my grandmothers new machines. Great find and let us know how the restoration project goes.

Theres a company called GVS mail order supply that stocks the original style belting for these and the rings/pliers to assemble it. I had one of their catalogs here but can't find it right now. Google and give them a jingle. They seriously carry everything traditional. Pretty neat to peruse their catalogs.

I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
"Bless you child, when you set out to thread a needle don't hold the thread still and fetch the needle up to it; hold the needle still and poke the thread at it; that's the way a woman most always does, but a man always does t'other way."

Man - I was thinking about getting a sewing machine, but now I'm thinking about getting one with a footpedal... What a beautiful machine you got there
Went over to tell my mother-in-law I stole her Singer Fashion Mate Model 237 circa 1968 thread injector. She said, "That's okay, I have another sewing machine I can use."
"Oh really," I said. "What kind?" She said it was a White. I told her I had just read a post about a guy who bought a 1915 White sewing machine. Was her White about that age? She said it was probably older.
I caught a brief glimpse of it before I left, and it's a quite elegant piece of furniture. I can't wait to get more details. Funny thing is, I've been looking at that piece of furniture for the last 30 years and never knew it was a sewing machine. Who knew?
Can't wait to check that baby out.
My mother-in-law's White didn't look like yours. It appeared to have an electric foot pedal, but I'll have to investigate further.
