    Hammock Tarp?

So I'm looking for a hammock tarp. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a good lightweight tarp that works... and doesn't cost a lot!
    Any suggestions will be helpful!

    Thanks,

    Brock

It's going to be hard to find something that is lightweight and cheap. Kelty Noahs and Gear Guide tarps would be a place to start, and keep your eye on the For Sale section. Some people have used the cheap poly tarps with success, but I've never tried it.

Cost is inverse of weight. Make sure it is big enough for how you intend to use it. There are few things more frustrating than saving a couple of ounces on a smaller tarp then getting wet with blown in rain. ;-)

It wont last long, but the cheap 5 dollar wal-mart tarps will atleast get you out into the woods until you can get something a little nicer. Thats what I started with.
    with two m's, like "hammock."

Go to Wally World. Find the cheapest Coleman 4 person tent that comes with a rain fly...Open the box, chuck the tent in the trash and use the rain fly.

Thanks for your replies! Another thing, what is the best shape of tarp? I was looking at the tarp neo suggested (I thing, if I am looking at the right one) is diamond shape and it looks like it would allow rain to blow in.

Right now,,Arrowhead Equipment, and Wilderness Logics have great silnylon tarps as good prices,,also, HH, and JRB has silnylon ones priced great as well,,lots of nice tarps cat cut gives better protection than diamond shaped. Square works good too, but make sure no matter what tarp,,you get full top protection depending on how long your hammock is, try and cover at least 6-8 inches of each end to figure your length. I am sure others out there have good ideas as well.

Arrowhead Equipment just dropped their prices on their tarps. Both are cantenary cut tarps and are very nice.
