While in the Scouts I loved orienteering. The chicken we roasted at the end was fantastic!

What, raisenettes are not part of your checklist. Being the biggest kid that usually goes hiking, whenever I take a newbe, I can't wait for that "raisentte moment"

I first heard of it from Jeff's site, and didn't even think about it again until I saw those deer droppings. OHHHHHHHH, I wish that I would have taken some. My local health foos store has some yogurt covered almonds, and in the heat, the white yogurt melts. It could pass for a bird dropping, might have to try that one too.

Geocache. I have my first kid on the way. I can't wait to take her hiking, camping and geocaching. And when she is old enough to kayak... that will be tossed into the mix.

Is that bad of me? I figure if I start the mold right she will be outdoorsy like mom and dad.

Thanks for the welcome. I saw a link to this forum on geocaching.com. It is exciting to know I'm not crazy for sleeping in a hammock (well maybe when I am 30' in a tree.)

Oh no... not bad at all. If I had one on the way, I'd be thinking about how early I could take him or her out on the trail... & talking to my wife about the benefits of putting a baby hammock in the nursery room... & maybe a big hammock too!!!

On the GC forum I am NoHandsGPS.

Ahh yes the nursery. As soon as I can find some Dr. Suess material I will be making an adult size hammock for my wife and I to feed her in. Those late night feedings just got better. Hammocks have so many uses!

More recently I've used a different method. I just kept him paddling so much he was too tired to give me any guff when we finally made camp!
