    Blue and White cord

I got a Doublenest a few weeks ago and it came with a length of blue and white cord, never used it for anything. It's still sitting in my change cup awaiting a use. Instead, I used some 550 Cord to make an adjustable ridgeline with prussics on the ends to adjust length. I just got a set of snakeskins today and I'd like to reduce bulk, 1st thing to go is the 550 Cord.

Can I use this blue and white stuff for a ridgeline or is it too flimsy?

If it matters, i have whoopies on the ends of the hammock.

    Please advise...
    Thanks

I don't know about the blue and white cord but 550 is a little stretchy to use. Not that it won't work but some people here can feel the difference inches make when adjusting their SRL's so a non stretch line may be better to use for yours. YMMV.

I've never gotten a cord from them with my hammock. I'd have to see it. But in a pinch, you could use it as a ridgeline without trouble.

I used some cord that wasn't dyneema & the worst problem I had was that my Dutchflyz (used to tweek the length of the ridgeline) cut into the cord and frayed it. I'll have to replace it soon, but it gave me a good idea of the length of ridgeline that I wanted.

The blue and white cord is probably an accident of packing, it is what they send with the guardian bug net as an exterior ridge line to keep the net off your face. I don't know how strong it is but you can use zing it it's very light weight.

Thats what I don't remember. Did it come with the bugnet or hammock?

It's braided and has a few strands in its core, 1/16' dia.

I always end up set it up amongst a cloud of mosquitos and gnats, so speed is crucial. I didn't like the plastic hooks so I opted for 550 inside. But now that I have the snakeskins, I'd like to slim it down. I might even remove a bit of the bugnet to make it smaller/lighter yet. The skins swallow the hammock and bugnet with its vertical zipper, but just barely.

For my current use (fishing and daytreks) I don't mind the stretch of 550, but I might as well get it over with now and get me some zing it...

    Thanks!

It is the top ridgeline for the bugnet.

I didn't use it as intended with my bug net either. I made a ridge line for my hammock with it and that holds up the net, holds a ridge line organizer and a mini light just fine. It's pretty strong and it doesn't seem to stretch. Try it, see it it works for you.

yeah I didn't use it either, I still use the stripped paracord Larkshead-looped inside of a diamond knot, it's on the end of a uni-directional prussick (Klemhiest) knot. This lets me adjust the length easily once i get my whoopies hooked. I figured i could adjust it a lot easier than the blue and white stuff.

    Here it is:
