The DIY gear supply netting is only 54", but I plan to sew a 6" piece of ripstop around the bottom edge and sew my shockcord channel in that. I believe this will do two things. Snug up better around the bottom of the hammock and make it easier to cinch the shock cord.
Did this with my hubby's hammock because he's really tall and the 54" I had for his wasn't long enough. worked really well.

Been using a Fronkey style bug net for about 3 years now. The first version was tulle and lasted 1 1/2 years including 2 1/2 months of nightly use in Maine. After the first few uses the shockcord was removed due to the hassle of an old man trying to get out in the wee hours. Now just depend on the fabric draping around the hammock. The netting is soaked in permethrin at the beginning of each season and I've never had mosquitoes get in. After tearing the tulle I ordered up some WL bugnetting for version 2 and have been using it for a year and a half. Slowly I have been reducing the amount of fabric draping around the hammock and have reduced the weight to 6.9 oz.

The permethrin dip may not soak in but some must adhere to the netting. I've laid in the hammock and watched the mossies land on the netting, sit for awhile, and just die.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

So you went with a Fronkey-Knotty hybrid. I'm pretty sure that's how I'm going to go as well. Just waiting on material to make the hammock and bug net.
