BB to Traveler

I've had a BB for nearly a year and love it. I've never had an issue. Just praise.

Recently, I picked up a Traveler and can't seem to find a position that matches the comfort of my BB. I've played with heights, tensions and body positions. While comfortable, it doesn't seem to last. Additionally, the futzing tends to shift my UQ. Not badly but enough that the combo has been a nuisance.

That said, am I nuts thinking that adding a footbox will resolve my issues?

Should have noted in the initial post. Both are 1.1dl.

The footbox isn't going to affect it appreciably. It is there to meet up with the shape of the netting, and prevent the netting from reducing room in the hammock when it's loaded. Brandon from WB has posted about this a few times.

The Traveler and BB have identical dimensions, and fabric bed shape. For all practical purposes, their lie is the same.

What are you finding to be different?

+1 What angrysparrow wrote. The footbox is all about creating room inside the netted hammock. Adding one to a netless hammock won't change the lie.

Does the Traveler have a structural ridgeline? If not, maybe try adding one the same length as the Blackbird's.

I've read some of Brandon's posts on setup but not specifically on the footbox. I'll dig around further.

Knotty, it does. I believe 100". Again, identical to the BB. That's why I was thinking perhaps it's the footbox that is providing the consistent comfort/lay. At least for myself.

Just for the heck of it,,take the traveler and turn it over and sleep on the opposite side,,then try it,,I did this and got a little better sleep in it,,but never did get it perfect either. Have no idea as the Traveler is bomb proof and will take all the abuse you throw at it, but I just never did get a perfect lay or ever did find a sweet spot. and I even retied the ends of it numerous times thinking that might help. But,,nada on that either.

Just taking a stab and hopefully someone with more brain knowledge stuff can explain.

Are they the same fabric?? 1.1, 1.7
Is one or the other or both or none of them Double layer?
When did you get each? The reason i ask is there was some 3rd party production for a while.

Just throwing ideas, maybe 1 will stick.

G.G. I have used a BB 1.1 DBL and a BB 1.7 DBL a Traveler 1.7 single and a Traveler 1.1 DBL. Now call me crazy cause I started this exact same thread a while ago but I hear ya. Even though the BB and traveler are identical to each other their is just something I find comfier about the BB in comparison to the Traveler. I just cant quite get that sweet spot like I can in the BB. Their is no rhyme or reason for it cause they are the same hammock. And their is the same structural RL in the BB as their is the Traveler. But don't give up on the Traveler quite yet it just takes some getting used to. Anyway good luck in getting comfy.

I've got a BB (in truth, more than one...) and a Traveller (only one), and used the Traveller for a couple of nights knowing this body dimension equivalence. One difference for me is that with the BB and its footbox, I don't mind getting my feet right up to the edge of the main body, being stopped from going farther by the footbox. Not so with the Traveller, I don't like my feet leaving the hammock and so I lay in the hammock a bit differently than I do in the BB.

I have the same experience as Grizz, I chalk it up to psychological factors, at least that's what my gf told me. Well, she didn't say it quite that way... she just says I'm nuts!
