Want to make a UL Hammock.

Hey guys im looking to make a lightweight hammock, im aiming for around 7 ounces (hammock body only), I would like a footbox or gathered side to give a flat lay. I should get away with single layer 1.1 as im only 70Kg 6'.
I don't need bug netting (already have a WBBB, this if for lounging on 'tenting' trips =(
Ill be using my cinch buckle suspension that came with the WBBB (switched it with whoopies).

Any suggestions on what to buy from where and how to make one would be appreciated!

I buy my material from Scott at DIYgearsupply.com. Go single layer 1.1 and check out member Hangnout's footbox modification thread (it is what I am adding to mine!). Might look into picking up some amsteel from Scott as well for DIY whoopies to keep that weight down!

Agree with dragon. Cinch buchles are heavy.

If u want a lighter hammock. Instead of footbox that adds material check out knottys stretch side mod

Since your question was about hammock body, I'll only address that. You should be able to get away under 7 oz if you use any 1.1oz/yd ripstop and keep the hammock rough measurements to 120"x60" or a tiny bit larger. DIYgearsupply is what I'd go with, but you can also tryhttp://owfinc.com/fabrics.html

Here's a hammock weight calculator that may help you do some planning.

I made a SGT Rock Ghost Clone and I love it. Mine is made of 1.5 ripstop and it is under 7oz for the body. Super small body with the comfort of a big ole hammock. I and thinking of adding a stretch side at the shoulder but other than that it has been awesome!

Yeah I was looking at the ghost..

I want to do something similar but im looking to make a stretch side as everyone seems to call it, how is that done? Does it have the same effect as a foot box?

Search for the Knotty stretch side mod, the instructions are very well done. Knotty also has instructions for a gathered end hammock that are excellent, both are stickies IIRC.
