Problem with Tech line as a tarp Ridgeline

Hey all, I got about 30 ft of some Tech line to use for the ridgeline of my tarp.

The problem I am having is that on one tree I tie a simple bowline but on the other, I tie a modified prussik which seems to continuosly slip.
I suppose this is die to the waxiness of the tech line or am i missing something?

The knot works great with reg accessory cord and whatnot.

Any input would be much appreciated.

I am using a tech line RL for my tarp as well and I had some issues at the beginning too. I made my prussiks out of braided masons line and it took me a minimum of 4 wraps on my prussiks to get them to bite hard. I would imagine that a techline prussik would bite on the RL too but I haven't tried it. Some people use another type of prussik and have good success with it but I cant remember the name.

Anybody pick up where I left off?

Lines of this nature are coated in polyurethane which is what is giving you that "waxi" look and feel. It also makes friction knots have a harder time getting a grip on the line. Add more loops to your prussic and pull it tight. The line will "break in" over time as the poly wears and the extra loops will get more contact increasing the friction.

Thanks for the responses, yeh the knot im talking about is just wrapping it around the tree which I can probably substitue for a non friction knot.

I have some prussik loops made out of accessory chord that Im attaching to the ridgeline. Ill see how those hold up as well....
