Been there, it sucks... Don't send them anything if you can help it, there's no reason for it, they have been known to pick accounts at random to perform a 'sampling" of potential account abuse or duplication. They can do all of it on the phone. I still think it's a crummy way of running a business, but who's the alternative? Western Union?

Anyways, glad Brandon got a hold of you to strighten it all out, I've been really impressed of ALL the cottage industries involved in this forum and those who support the hammocking community. And honestly, its the way it aughta be...

So, when will your WBBB DL be delivered?

So, when will your WBBB DL be delivered?
Have you paid the full amount, or will your account be charged only at time of shipping?

I've been the target of identity theft also. It's definitely no fun. I can't open any new accounts for anything without showing up in person with I.D. because of a lock that's for my protection. I can't even call on the phone to get cable TV installed. I have to show up with my I.D.!

I would be extremely hesitant to send all that info to Paypal, if it were me. And I'm a heavy Paypal user (Gear Junky).

Or, if worse comes to worse, create a new account.

But Brandon should be able to assist.

Same here, it was my second or third large purchase. They just put a hold on it for verification. Believ they wanted me to confirm a letter via the mail as well.

If I remember well, Paypal used to debit a small amount on the CC with a code, which you needed to confirm with them. That confirmed my CC and my ID at the same time.

But I heard a number of disturbing critics abt pp, especially here in the EU as they tend to apply US law/restrictions to EU internal business. Some cottage industries got their funds blocked because of US restrictions that don't apply in the EU. And they first block your account and (sometimes) ask questions later.

WMRR: Here's the Social Security Administration's advice about what to do when a business requests your social security number. Click here

I strongly urge you to politely refuse Paypal's request. As the SSA points out, they can run a credit check on you using alternative means. Good luck! Don't let this overshadow the fun of getting a new Warbonnet!!

I've had this happen to me. It was not so muck identity theft, but someone tried to charge $700.00 out of my account, when that failed they than tried 200.00 and again when that failed they tried 70.00 and that succeeded.

I soon afterwards received an email from PayPal explaining that an fraudulent attempt for payment from my account was attempted and explained the attempted transactions to me, PayPal stopped the first two attempted withdrawal from my account, but somehow the 70.00 attempt was successful. PayPal than put a ban on my account for security reasons and asked me to send them a photo I'd.

I was a bit suspicious about this, so I called PayPal and it was indeed a request from them. I faxed them a photo id and in no time they opened my account and advices me to change my password. PayPal also reimbursed me the $70.00

I got an email on 3/29 from PayPal telling me that I may need to re-verify my info. (Full legal name, address, date of birth and the last (4) four digits of my SS#. So, all the info. you were asked for, does not sound right. It also, said to log on to PayPal site. Any time I'm going to log on. I type the URL in. I do not chick on any links! ever!!!
I went to PayPal, It did not ask me to re-verfy anything yet. So I didn't.
It also, said this would start on April 1
I have never failed, I have been very Successful finding out what does Not work.
