    Webbing which type?

Hey all, I have been experimenting with different types of suspension setups I have done amsteel/woopie route, and also ring buckle, I like the ease and simplicity of webbing and ring buckle so I have a question about it, as of right now I use 1" tubular webbing (definitely overkill, weight not being an issue) but thats the direction I'd like to go, I would like to get some static webbing, as opposed to dynamic of which i have now (stretch) I have access to some 9/16" tubular, being that is is tubular, would it pass for hanging? I ask this because I can bring longer amounts if its thinner. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Your webbing is most likely made of nylon. What you need is polyester webbing. A 1" wide strap is the common size used in hammock suspensions.

I figured as much (nylon), but my main question was, would the 9/16" tubular suffice? It has a rated breaking strength @ 9KN/~2000lbs

It's not the breaking strength that's important (once you pass 1000 pounds or so).
Climber's straps and ropes are designed to stretch as much as possible to absorb some impact of a fall. That's the exact opposite of what a hammock hanger wants.

And remember, never hang any higher than you are willing to fall

how can you tell between nylon and polyester?

I've heard before about polyester being preferred to nylon for webbing but how does one tell the difference?

Also if the webbing stretches during the night, at most it's going to only be less than an inch don't you think? If it's climbing rated then it's not like it's going to break in the middle of the night.

I read somewhere that one inch tubular webbing has a 15% stretch to it, and that nylon strength gets halved when it's wet.

When I first tried out using webbing and cinch buckles, I just bought some 1in webbing from Joanns. It worked fine. I didn't even sew loops in the end (just a lfigure-8 loop) because I figured this was temporary. Well after a number of years, it is still going strong. I probably have set up and slept in that rig close to 200 times. Sometimes I overthink the gear and forget to just go out and do it. I am glad I didn't make that error in this case.

I've gone both routes as well and I'm finding I like the simplicity and infinity adjustability of webbing but I want to upgrade to non-nylon webbing. What's the consensus of which webbing is better between these 3: Polyester Seat Belt Webbing vs Polyester webbing and Arrowhead's polyester webbing?

I had nylon (ENO Slap strap Pros) and I ended up dropping about 2' in hammock height due to stretch overnight. (ending up on the ground a couple of times, before I found out about them at the HFs!)

I've ordered & reordered ploy strapping from Paul at Arrowhead & would do it again.

Another option that I found, which I really liked was Python Straps from Kammok. They appear similar to the strapping for climbers ("softer" looking) but they have loops in the line to vary the length, similar to the ENO Slap strap Pros. I'm actually considering getting another set for my in the trunk rig.
