Question for 3 day trip ?

Going on a 3 day solo trip in mountains ..... ? Is to save weight I bought a fleece sleeping bag liner ... I'm using a ridge runner ....with a lynx 20 degree under quilt ..... Has anyone ever used the liner setup as a top quilt ...... Lows are expected to be down to 40 ..... I'm still saving for a top quilt ....thanks

Yes I have. They are cheap but not very good warmth to weigh ratio. Some fleece is much better or at least thicker than other. I mostly just use for summer and prefer to buy 2-3 yards of fleece fold over sew up bottom and up about 12-18", thus eliminate weight and fiddle factor of the zipper which gets uncomfortably stuck under me. Hopefully your experience is better.
BTW Fabric and craft stores and some WAL-MARTs have that iron on tape stuff that is especially made for fleece if you don't want to sew. Most of that stuff does not work with fleece, ask the people working there. But sewing is always better. Then you can use Omni - tape to attach it to the inside foot of your sleep bag or TQ next winter for more warmth and comfort. Or not...
