Well, I live out in Utah. So there isn't always a guarantee of trees to hang from.

I've been playing with the idea of a wool/nylon under-quilt. Nylon on one side that matches my hammock, some climashield, then a wool blanket. The idea is to fold it in half, nylon side in, when I have to go to ground. The wool will protect the quilt and hopefully in combination with the nylon and climashield will provide adequate insulation from the ground. I hate having a a pad in my hammock and would like to ditch it all together. I figure the quilt will fit in the gap left by the pad, though it'll be a bit heavier.

Anyone tried anything like this? Soon as I get sewing I'll post picks.
