Central and southern NJ extremely high fire risk

I know silver surfer and a few others were planning a trip this weekend around Batsto/Apple Pie hill and I'm sure they're aware but there's a wildfire in Chatsworth, Burlington county, NJ right now. High winds are making it tough to control.
Talking to a couple of guys at the barber shop this morning and they said there's also a wildfire out on the ranges at Ft. Dix. This report is unconfirmed at this time. Checked the NJ DEP site and haven't seen any updates yet. Be careful out there people, be careful!

Last week my an ember fell out of my neighbor's fire pit, lighting leaves on fire and quickly spreading across the hillside between our houses. Other than the scorched ground, the only real damage was a serbian spruce which now looks like a giant burnt match stick.

The fire danger in NJ is very real right now. Do not make campfires and even wood stove use can be risky.

Whoa. That's WAY too close of a call. Glad to hear none of your property was damaged. I've wanted to light our pit for the past couple of weeks but conditions have been really bad. Have to wait until some foliage blooms out and a good soaking of rain. If your neighbor tries to light it again squirt him with the hose.

Sometimes they survive only to be infested by Ips Beetles... I'd get it sprayed...

KK - that's just a bit north of Apple Pie Hil, isn't it?

UPDATE - According to NBC10 news, 50% of the fire is contained. Roughly 1000 acres affected. Evidence points to the fire being started intentionally.
