Quick trip to Springer and the start (or finish) of the AT

A coworker (Hammock Forums member brownc) and I made a quick turnaround trip to Springer and lounging around on the AT this weekend. While on Springer, we met fellow HF member Ashman.

Here's the trip report of a lazy weekend on the AT.

Now doesn't that look like a great place for lunch?

Some really nice pics - love the one with the bridge! Looks like you both had a great time.

    Nice report, great pics. Thanks.

Yeah the bridge pic stood out for me too. For some reason it looked like a picture of a diorama. I guess the depth of field or the angle made it appear that way.

What gear did you drop and not miss or replaced with a lower weight alternative that weighted 6 + pounds ?

Going to the cuben tarp probably only accounted for a 10 - 14 oz. drop.

How did the HH SS work out for Chris ? Warm, condensation on the space blanket ? I ask because I purchased a HH Expedition that my son used at the Boy Scout Jamboree a couple of years ago and I have been thinking about getting a SS for it.
I've used my WB Yeti and it works fine but I only have 1 and I don't always go solo, sometimes my son camps with me too. The money for another UQ just went to increased auto insurance after he passed his drivers test.

    Thanks,
    David

Thanks. That pic may or may not have been enhanced on my phone.

Ft. Payne, huh? We're practically neighbors. Definitely worth the drive over to get to experience the southern part of the AT. Even if you don't have a weekend, you're close enough for a day hike (early drive over). I've done it plenty of times from Rome.

Thanks for checking 'em out. Springer has a way of calling you back, doesn't it.
