    New hanger from Tennessee.

Hello all, I'm new at this hammock thing, but have been a camper all my life. I got a Grand Trunk hammock for Christmas and just got around to trying it out yesterday and man oh man was it nice! I've already planned a camping trip in 3 weeks to LBL. I'm a closet hoarder, but have always relished the thought of being a minimalist and love the prospect of tossing my GT hammock and eno straps in my backpack instead of my REI half dome.

I enjoy being outdoors pretty much all year, except summer. I'm odd in that perfect weather for me is overcast and cool. I grew up down in AL and I guess that turned me off to heat and humidity. That being said I will need to purchase a good tarp! My wife even got in the hammock and now I'm on the hunt for a yellow one for her, gotta be in her favorite color.

Welcome! And I'm with ya on being odd - I'll take that overcast and cool any day. My backpacking season is officially shut down late May-August. Hot, sunburn, ticks, flies, mosquitoes (they love me), sweat, humid, stinky, crowds, bug goop...can't do it.

Greetings from the left side of the state. Where are you going in the LBL? I have a boat on The TN.

Hey from the middle. We are going to stay at the energy lake campground. I prefer area B of that campground as its away from the rv's and tucked into the woods. We will be there in early May.

Welcome to the forum. I have been thinking about a LBL run myself. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Neo has also posted a thread for his next Mid-TN hang in the trip planning section, if that is something you would be interested in checking out.
