    If you left one end lower so the water runs down and off the tarp, it could work. Sounds like a lot more of a hassle than just adding two center tie outs would be. Plus, with the center tie outs, you'd have your doors for winter...save your trekking poles for porch mode

    I'd say if you don't want to add in the center tie out points then you could hang the tarp off one set of the existing tie out to use as a Whelen Tent (Hunter's Lean-To).

    I do this on occasion if the weather is good except for a strong wind from a single direction and I want better protection. Opens things up nicely and still gives me plenty of coverage incase of rain.
