Rip,
Love the video and information. I am going to set up my HG Cuban with similar tie outs. I have 2 questions:
1. What knot are you using to connect the shock cord to the Z line on the center pulls?
2. I am confused on where you are connecting the prussick on the center pull. When you make the adjustment using the center pull I can't figure out where the prussick was stabilized to allow you to make the adjustments. It's not like the setup on the corners where you larks head the prussicks to the corner D- rings.

Really great video rip! Love the detail and the complete breakdown of all the elements. I'm rocking some very similar ideas but still learned a great deal.

all the connections revolve around Z line running through prussiks for adjustment. here is an image (abstracted) to detail it.
a length of shockcord with loops in both ends- one end is girthed to the center wall pull out -- and the Zline/prussick is girthed to the loop at the other end of the shockcord. that long line is then staked out to pull out the tarp wall.
the center tie along the bottom is connected like the corners: prussik loop girth to the tieout, with Zline running through it. the additional adjustment is made by utilizing the loops of shockcord with mitten clips i use to reef up the tarp for storage. a prussik is formed with that small shockcord loop along the Zline pulling out the tarp wall, and Zline from the center tie along the bottom edge connects to the mitten clip.

OK. That makes perfect sense. Thank you.

Thanks for the video Rip...
Nice video, thanks! I need to sort my tie-outs, those look to be a good solution.
Are you sure about the seam sealing?
Mine is taped on the ridge seam, but then sewn through. I think it still needs sealer unless Joe changed how he is doing this. (there is exposed threads on both sides of the fabric) My tie out re-inforcings are not taped and made from cuben. (mine was made late 2011)
Cheers.

New - The ridge seam and all tie out reinforcements are now sewn and taped for extra strength. No seam sealing necessary!
but you have me double checking- and upadate: the ridgeline line seam is in fact sewn, but is then taped on the interior. the ridge tie out reinforcements are made from cuben... taped and THEN sewn. i suppose a few dabs of seam sealer may benefit, but for me, not 100% necessary.
the tie out reinforcements are made from a black material.. um, not sure what it is-- looks like a cordura? maybe a thicker cuben, and are glued.

My cuben zpacks tarp at first had just a sewn ridge line. I seam sealed it but the lateral tension of staking opened the thread holes and water could get through. Joe then taped it for me and viola!, water tight.
