Really need the help of my fellow hangers to make a decision

Ok so here is my dilemma. I can get either a 0* Burrow which I would use all season as it would be my only top insulation due to life, work, and kids happening I can only afford to have one. OR I can get a JRB Hudson river. Both for basically the same price. I can't make the decision so I was hoping I could get some help?? Please?

0ºF Burrow will be quite warm in the summer months... Do you do much winter camping?

If you do less winter camping, the 3 season Hudson River makes more sense. But, if more of your hanging is in colder weather, the Burrow would be fine.

I occasionally winter camp. I summer camp MUCH more often. I agree about the over kill but was just thinking it might be nice to have if I do go out in the winter. I see the hudson is rated to about 25-30 and I am a VERY warm sleeper. Could it possibly work in winter with some extra layers, barring that it doesn't get down to crazy temps?

Yes, you can extend a 3 season quilt by wearing more layers. A hood will help a lot, in particular. Just how low depends more on you and just how cold.

Given that you camp "much more often" in summer months, and are a warm sleeper to boot, I'd say the 0ºF quilt isn't the best fit.

I've got to agree with AS...go with outfitting for what you do the MOST.

If it isn't enough on those rare occasions you go winter camping, extra clothing, or carrying an extra piece of equipment (like a poncho liner, for example) to use along with the TQ should get you through with no problems.
