I'm looking to get out into the woods a bunch this summer so if anyone is heading out in forests of PA and is looking for some company, let me know.

Welcome from a fellow new-comer and a Pennsylvanian at heart living in Georgia. My family still lives there and I visit frequently.

Can you share the names of any of the places you go backpacking at?

I like to hit the state forests. They let you camp wherever you want and while you might pass a couple people here or there, they're generally pretty empty. The two I've been to are Sproul SF in the north central PA and Lackawanna SF in north east. Lackawanna has the Pinchot Trail which is a 20-something mile loop with dirt roads through out, so you can do the whole thing if you want, or bail with an easy hike out if you don't. Thunder Swamp Trail is in Delaware SF. I haven't been there but I plan to sometime this summer. The Appalachian Trail is also an option.

Think about attending the Spring MAHHA 2012 at Pine Grove Furnace State Park April 28-29. I think they're projecting 75+ HF members attending. Great chance to put names with faces and check out a plethora, a preponderance of different gear.

Oh yeah, that's definitely on my radar. I'm trying to work out the logistics but I'd definitely love to go.
