Hammock Gear 4 season cuben tarp

Ok guys I finally got the chance to get out and hang my new tarp. I recently bought a Hammock Gear 4 season Cuben tarp. First the quality of this tarp is top notch and I discovered somethings that I really liked and some others that I didn't. First, this is my first Cuben fiber product and I am really impressed with this material, however it is SOOOO light that even the slightest breeze sent the tarp flapping like crazy while i was trying to setup things up. The winds today were around 10-15 gusting to 25mph so needless to say that I put the pull outs to quite a test just while setting up. Second, the "No-Stretch" material made it extremley easy to get a nice tight pitch once everything was staked out. First I hung this tarp under the ridgeline but quickly switched to over the ridgeline to gain a little more support. My Arrowhead Equipment Zing It guylines worked pretty well. I think they may have been slipping a little today in the wind but, they are new and I have heard that Zing It prussics will slip some until the shine is burnished a little. I also noticed today that while the semi see thru Cuben looks cool it also means the sun can still shine you in the face and almost acts like a green house traping radiant heat. So far I remain undecided on this tarp,

Thanks Fronkey, I might be hitting you up for some skins, this thing could use some when setting up in the wind.

Thats a pretty looking tarp you got their I got one on order should be here in a few weeks or so. Any ways as to the cuben fiber flapping in the wind try a CRL with snake skins. Makes tarp set up fast and easy and in high winds more manageable IMHO. And yes more sun may poke through in the AM but it sure is pretty stareing at the moon and stars in the PM while drifting off to sleep. And having used a cuben tarp and sil tarp I have found no difference in one traping in more radient heat then the other. If anything it probably has more to do with how opened or closed off you pitch it and if you leave the doors opened or shut. Anyway enjoy the new gear Hammock Gear does some fine work.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

This is my first tarp with "doors" so maybe thats why I thought it held in more heat.

Well, if you decide you don't like it, I'll take it off your hands for the same price you paid!!

With the doors closed and pitched low to the ground you would retain some more heat then you would with the same size tarp without doors. However (and some one please correct me if im wrong) I dont think the material it self being cuben would retain more radient heat then lets say sil. I hope im explaining that correctly and not confusing you more but i have doors on all my tarps and when i dont use them i just pull um up and tie um back.
