    Cat Tarp - Lunch hang

I thought I was finished with my diy hex cat tarp last night so I figured I would take it into the woods for lunch and test her out. I will put more specs and better pictures soon but I wanted to share. I have decided that I am going to add side tie outs tonight and I don't like self-tensioning attachment points on the tarp ends, they seem to work great for the sides though.

    Enjoy!

Thank you! I am getting better with actually stitching a straight line I do wish I had more space and a bigger table, these large projects can be hard to keep a handle on with the weight of the fabric.

btw, I have the plans for this one in illustrator, a computer drawing program, that I plan to make available to whomever. In really only has the fabric outline but it is a start. I have access to wide format printers here at work and just printed, cutout, and traced onto the fabric. It work out pretty well.

That is one fantastic looking tarp. I really like the color contrast btwn the green and the black. I plan on making a tarp that size as my next tarp project. Good job!!!

Alright, I finally got some pictures of my setup, minus my underquilt. Hope you enjoy, they worked great this past weekend in the Smokies.. I do wish I had brought my Canon Rebel, the Coolpix just doesn't do the trick in low light.

    Very Impressive.

You have built something to be proud of. Wondering if you had a pattern to follow. That tarp has some nice lines. Good work!

Actually yeah. I have a full size file of the outline. I will figure out how to best share it with the community. I actually have access to a large, drafting type printer at work and printed and taped until I had the full template.
It is funny because I am very happy with this tarp, but when I talked about it with my wife she gave me a sideways glance and asked when I would be making another version. It almost broke my heart to say, "Another version, no way, I love this version . . . but . . . it would be sexy in cuben ."
The way that I did the seams was great because it saved me a bit more that a yard of fabric which was really nice and it was much easier to handle two short flat felled seams versus a long ridge line seam. Also I didn't seal her because the only seams to worry about are on the sides and not over my head, although it didn't leak at all during a light all afternoon drizzle. Oh and did I mention the thing came in at under a pound with everything still.
Ahh it is nice to be a proud daddy of a tarp yeah I am a bit sick.

I like the seam configuration. Multiple colors is a nice touch too. I've been planning my tarp and will probably borrow this idea!

    I must be sick also!

I think the way you built it is the best as the seams are not over your rig. (Brilliant!)! I just ordered 10 yards of 1.1 and would love to use your tarp design. Thinking I might get close just measuring on the floor. What do you think? I also agree that the cuban version would be first class and LIGHT WEIGHT
