Tested my First DIY Under Quilt

Well last night was a Great Night to try out my New Made by Me Insulbright underquilt. I used Insulbright for my first UQ to help increase my sewing skills before I attempt a Down UQ (not ready for baffles yet)

I used two layers of insulbright sandwiched between two layers of nylon from Wally World added channels for attachment shock cord etc.....

I used my REI 20* mummy bag opened up as a top quilt

Low Temperature 27* with winds at 7 MPH and gusts up to 15 MPH

Slept warm all night

I know I am a warm sleeper, but the temperature that this allowed me to sleep at last night was amazing


The dimensions are 50" X 42"
not sure of the weight, but it is not too bad
since it will not compress well I also made a water resitant bag for it
so I can hang it on the lower straps of my pack

I am almost ready to attempt down baffles

Total cost under $50.00 (had coupons from wifey)

It sounds like you did a great job on the UQ. Glad it worked out and you slept comfortable. I have a few DIY projects I would like to attempt but just do not have the time right now. Thanks for sharing your experience. HH.
