    Thanks for the update.

Just want all of those guys and gals fighting over there to know we have not forgotten about them.

Hey all - I'm back in the States. I've actually been back for a little bit, but I was traveling around visiting family, took a trip to Universal Orlando, etc...and capped it off with a week-long camping trip in Jones Gap State Park, SC. I took one kid at a time for some quality one-on-one time, and Jennifer switched them out for me halfway through. Taught them to make a splitwood fire in the rain, caught and ate crawdads from the creek, got them both new slingshots, tried out the kids quilt as a half-underquilt on the Warbonnet (worked great), hiked to a few waterfalls, etc. It was a great time...some of the pics came out pretty good, and I'll post a few later (haven't even downloaded them yet).

Thanks for all the support while I was gone. I got several emails from people just wishing me well, and of course I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the care package. Unfortunately, I must have left right before it got there. I go back to work tomorrow and I'll call to see if they held it for me or returned to sender. I'll let y'all know the status when I find out.

If you've sent me PMs over the last several months that you still need an answer for, please resend so I know you still need info. And yes, the Crazy Creek hammock is sold!

Now I'm making my list of new gear I need to make/buy in the next few months. I'm thinking summer/winter half-underquilts for me and the kids, a new hammock for Jennifer to be comfortable in (probably a bridge hammock), a new 0* or 20* bag for winter hammocking (might as well get ready for the Colorado move before this January's Mt Rogers trip...at least that's how I'm justifying the $400+ for the Alpinist if I don't just make a thicker quilt. Oh - and a longer MacCat Delux out of Cuben if I can get Brian to make it. And a new backpack b/c my GoLite Speed, which has been great, is separating where the sil attaches to some of the straps. Oh - and either a cuben poncho or a hoodless cuben Packa. Hrm...might have to take out a second mortgage....

Thanks again for keeping me in your thoughts while I was gone, but more importantly for keeping HF a vibrant, polite, productive online community. I'll have to see what's going on at work, but right now I'm planning on attending the September Hot Springs Hangout so hopefully I'll see some of you there!

    Welcome back!

Sounds like you're up for a massive resupply as far as gear is concerned. You must have hit the jackpot too, since you're planning all that cuben gear.

Great to hear you're back safe and sound and reconnecting with the family. The kids must be awfully proud of their papa! Thanks for all you did for us here at home.

Welcome back Jeff. Before you spend $400+ on a Alpinist, note that JRB should be publishing details any day now on their new winter quilt, The Mt. Washington, and it's supposed to be pretty sweet with differential baffles and all the latest quilt advancements.
