    Headed down the Edisto River

Well this weekend will be a first for me. Me and 11 other guys are loading up the boats and heading down the Edisto River Friday - Sunday.

The Edisto River is the longest completely undammed / unleveed blackwater river in North America, flowing 206 meandering miles from its sources in Saluda and Edgefield counties, to its Atlantic Ocean mouth at Edisto Beach, SC.

I of course will be in the WBBB. Got a buddy borrowing my Traveler to try and get him converted from the ground. As long as no water moccasin's fall in the boat from the trees and the boats stay bottom side down, it should be a great weekend! Pics next week!

Awesome. You guys should have a great trip. I've done the section from Colleton State Park to Givhans Ferry State Park several times. I would like to follow the river down to where it dumps into the Atlantic, but seriously doubt the spouse would give permission for that. Have a great trip. Can't wait for the pictures.

They tell me that we will cover 120 miles before we are done. Should be quite an adventure.

What sets a canoeing expedition apart is that it purifies you more rapidly and inescapably than any other travel. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature.
