I haven't weighed them but the straps are a little bulkier. For me, I like the straps better than the WS's, I'm sure I am probably in the minority.

I like them both equally well. My primary hammock has whoopie slings, my backup/guest hammock has straps & rings. Whoopies are more fun and have an unmatched "cool" factor. Straps & rings are just dead simple.

That is some well thought out work. Nice job! I have a new Wilderness Logics Light Owl and by adding the side pull outs it will have the same options as the one you did. I am thinking of doing the same but sewing on a (wing) pocket and attaching the bungee to the end of it. One side only. It would hang more downward but would allow me to stow a few things when I'm in the hammock. I am not putting you on the spot I just wanted your opinion on the idea. I am staying with the woopie sling set up only for weight reduction. Thank's- Groovy.

I think that would be great. I can see the benefit and convenience of such a pocket.
