Anyone camp in swampy areas much with thier Clark? I am looking for firsthand experiences, also is the NX-250 "mosquito proof" as the Tropical version claims. Thanks in advance.

Swampy no but I have done many lakeside and riverbank evenings and have not been a meal for the mosquito hoards. I would hear them buzzing though, but not anymore thanks to fellow hangers advice I use earplugs now.
Whether trail or paddle don't you know
My hammock is the way to go
There peace and solitude I find
To ease all troubles from my mind
Both body and soul revel in delight
As day surrenders to inky night
Hey non!
I live in Sarasota, FL too, and I own the NX-250. The hammock is mosquito proof, as far as I'm concerned. I've never been bitten through the material.
IIRC, there was one member here who got bit through their Clark bottom, but it was where the pocket stitching holes were sewn through the bottom fabric.
I've also camped in some very swampy areas (approx. foot deep standing water all around me), and the Clark keeps you high and dry.
Yesterday's tomorrow is tomorrow's yesterday. It's the only day that counts.
Thanks for the replies, I went with the WBBB for the footbox.
Ive never been bitten, except if I was pressing my legs up against the mosquito net. That appears to allow them to bite through.
For the stitching holes: Why not smear a sealant. I expect to. Hey, it is the INSIDE of the hammock.
I bought a spray bottle of Sawyer's permethrin. I intend to treat the outside of the hammock and the netting and give it a thorough airing, per instructions. It is said to be effective for 6 weeks or 6 washings (when applied to clothes. Basically: One of the approaches of the WHO to stopping malaria and other mozzie-spread diseases: treated bed netting.
We all know to keep DEET away from nylon, right?
On permethrin. Too many threads here to read them all. Basically: a pretty safe insecticide that kills mozzies and other insects on contact. Some also think there is a repellent effect

As for those annoying biters in forest areas around melbourne australia i have trialled the hammock and not been bitten, they were so bad while they tried to attack me through the bottom fabric though that i couldnt sleep for the noise, ive since employed ear plugs lol
