How hot is it at night...

Not the coldest night I've had, but by far the biggest surprise.

Was in Los Angeles visiting friends and relatives once. It was early spring, April I believe.

During the day, the temperatures were very comfortably in the 70s. I had been warned to bring a light jacket for evening and night - as soon as the sun goes down the temperature drops.

What I wasn't prepared for was the COLD. Had to go inside long before midnight and the temperature was still dropping. In the morning, about 5 or 6, there was frost on the grass in the front and back yards. So it got below freezing. Don't know how much below.

So, if you do decide to camp out in LA, don't assume it will always be warm. Learned there and then that LA was/is a desert and deserts get cold at night.

I think I'd die if it was that hot. I'm definatley not complaining at all. It just totally boggles my mind. Right now I'm sleeping with 2 quilts on my bed inside my house(I have the fan on and the windows open too mind you, but still)

Q, you should be sleeping out in your hammock!

Sounds like perfect weather for comfortable hanging. Start testing some UQ options before it gets really cold.

It was 85* last night at 11:00 here. Woke up this morning at 8:30 and it was already 75 and just getting hotter. Heat index for today is supposed to reach 102.

I never bother using converters. I also cheat. 10 C = 50 F (which happens to be true) and then adjust by 1 C for every 2 F (which happens to be false). The error is small enough to ignore for the temperatures that happen in weather.

It's kind of odd to realize that some people actually camp in places where using a hammock is just plain survival sense, as you'd probably roast alive if you slept on the ground. At least that's my immediate reaction to the figures posted.

85* at night - that's just wrong!

I'd have to soak the hammock down to keep me cool enough to sleep!

Around 74 Fahrenheit degrees with 100% humidity for the low (just before sunrise) this time of year. The only thing you could use a sleeping bag for is to mop up the sweat.
