    Noobie UQ question

We're going on our first overnight hang tomorrow night on the Pinhoti Trail in Alabama. Lows are forecast to be 58 deg. Would that be warm enough for just a sleeping bag or should I take a sleeping pad or blue Walmart pad for under insulation. I'm in a HH with a light quilt but my wife's new BB 1.7 does not have an UQ yet but it is a double layer I could slide a pad into. Recommendations??

You'll need some sort of pad in the 50's. Especially if you camp at any elevation.

What section? I've thru-hiked the Pinhoti.

I guess you'll have your choice of elevation then. I'd recommend taking the pads though. Most people need under insulation below 70ºF.

Wally world pad, or if you have an inflatable, let out 1/2 the air. It'll work perfect between the two layers of the WBBB.

I tried a Walmart exercise mat and my 3" inflatable partially inflated tonight and the Walmart pad seemed to stay in place better, I guess because of the tacky texture. It seemed pretty warm.

Good start! The CCF pad is good for moderate temps, but they don't breathe, so they're kind of clammy when it's warmer out. You find that a UQ breathes better; which is to say it's more comfortable across a range of temperatures.
