He wasn't aggressive or anything, and seemed content to just check us out, even getting within a few feet of the fire. He scurried off when I started talking to him, though.

I've seen beaver in the wild many times, but they either were unaware of my presence or fled as soon as they spotted me. Finding a really curious one was amusing.
Maybe he was just curious, but the first thing that come to mind when I see an animal acting "out of the ordinary" is rabies.
Hopefully not but I'd have that possibility in mind as I kept an eye on him.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

    I think this counts as a critter(s).

I lent my brother my dual layer hammock to test out, and because he really needs to relax. I go over there today to water his garden (he's on vacation,) and see my hammock laying in his tree - tied on one end only, and just thrown up in the crotch of the tree. This cheeses me off a little, so I untie the hammock, and bring it over by his pool to roll it up and put it back in the stuff sack, which was around on of the ropes. As soon as I stretch out the hammock, earwigs start falling out of it - must have been a hundred of them.

Because it's a dual layer, they were starting a nest between the layers of fabric, and were in every nook and crannie. EEEWWWWWW! Needless to say, my brother will not be borrowing any more hammocks from me.

Years ago, my wife and I were tent camping in Yellowstone with our six month old baby. We were startled awake at the crack of dawn by two baby bison playing "tag" around our tent when they tripped over one of the guy lines and made the whole tent shake. My wife jumped on top of the baby and I jumped on top of her to protect them from the stampede that we thought was sure to follow. Nothing happened for about a minute or two, but we could still hear the bison running around and crashing through the bushes. Luckily for us, a big Momma bison came over, snorted at the two youths and they all went back to the heard down by the river. Needless to say; it was quite a scary few minutes!

I think we have a winner. That's a wild story to say the least.

Earwigs totally creep me out!!! No way in hell I would let him use it again! Good luck using it again without thinking they are working their way into your brain. Wow, did I just plant that thought!!! Sorry!
