There are a couple of things I'd change to simplify the construction process.
1. I would leave the PL its original size and shape and just remove the string ties.
2. To form the channel at the bottom for the drawstring I'd simply fold the end over a couple of inches and sew it down - you'll regain 4 or 5 inches of usable PL this way.
3. To complete the footbox simply fold the PL in half lengthwise (inside out) and stitch up about 24 inches from the edge of the drawstring channel toward the top.
Once finished, insert your drawstring in the channel, cinch it up, trim the drawstring ends if you like and turn it right-side out...done
This should save you a heck of a lot of time and effort.

Steve- Thanks for the new thoughts I just finished it up and it weighs in at 23 oz on the kitchen scale. The foot end doesn't quite bunch closed when cinched but I don't have any shock cord at hand and used some 325 paracord, a couple of wraps around sealed it all up. Best part is I can uncinch it and roll the whole thing up flat into about 3/4 the height and the diameter of a 2l bottle. I'll grab some pictures in a few days.
Many thanks.
Craig
Give me a couple of days got to wait for all my mail deliveries with the goods to show up. Definitely much easier then reedging and cutting it down, after looking it doesn't seem there would have been much weight savings by doing so. It is amazing for how thin these are at how warm they are.
Thanks again
Craig
Yours was about 23 oz and mine was about 16 oz. - about 7 oz difference. It didnt seem like I cut that much off but I lost some material off the sides and ends and all of the edging...but...I gained back some of the edging. I'll try to bring mine in to the office and weigh it again in the next few days just to make sure.
They are warm. I've found that with my climashield UQ, light sleep clothes and a warm pair of socks I'm good with the PLTQ into the mid to low 50s
