I considered that but I discovered a while back the me and zippers just don't get along in a hammock...

    Here are the particulars...

Width at head - 58 in.
Width at foot - 46 in. (results in a roughly 14 in. foot box)
    Length - 78 in
Weight - 14.9 oz (on a digital postal scale, w/o a stuff sack)

    Costs:

    Poncho Liner - $12.95 + shipping (fleabay)
Polyester Thread - $4.95 for 400 yds (lots left over for other projects
    1.5 in grossgrain ribbon - 4 yards @ $.75/yd
1.9 oz ripstop (leftovers from other projects)

    Total cost: <$25
Total build time: +/- 4 hours (add an hour and about $5 to make a poster board template)

Awesome Steve, can you take a pic of the template to see shape?
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

Don't have a camera handy but how about a diagram?

    Thanks

This fits the bill for a first DIY sewing project. Starting with the tarp might be over ambitious

Wouldn't be a bad first project at all. All straight lines and straight stitch. You could actually simplify things and cut 30 to 45 minutes by hot cutting long edges of the the ripstop pieces instead of hemming them.

Stupid question about the diagram. What side is the head? 46" or 58"

    58"

Adjust your length according to your height. I'm 5' 8" and it comes up over my nose so I have plenty to tuck in over and around my shoulders. Some folks like to have more coverage, some like less...

IIRC I ended up cutting about 4 to 5 inches off the overall length of the PL (a little from each end)..

What size shoes do you wear? I'm assuming my size 13 feet will require a wider bottom

    Thanks for getting back to.me

I used the full width(no taper from head to foot) for my size 15 feet with no real room to spare after snaps were applied for the foot box.
