    First solo camp.

So just wanted to post a few shots that I took last-night.
Woke up Friday around lunch (night-shift) and decided to take off for my first ever solo experience.
Spent 5 minutes throwing gear into my new pack and away I went. Had the BOSS drop me off at the entrance of a "Municipal" bushlot that is open for public use. After a nice short 1.5 - 2km walk I arrived at a spot that I had discovered while exploring with my daughter.

Spent the next 3-4 hours working away at the cans of Guinness I had humped in and setting my kit up.
Had a nice little fire and called it a night around 10pm. Slept soundly till roughly 3 Am when the temps hit 3*C and I discovered that my touque was at home oops! The BOSS returned around 11 Am to collect me.

What an awesome experience it is to spend time alone!

Having trouble uploading the shots. Will try again later.

    Nice!!!!!!!!!

Looks like you found yourself a nice spot to chill out. I particularly like your selection of supplemental hydration.

I bet it was a lot warmer than our last adventure!

Hey Chard, how are you? Ya only dropped to about 3 - 4. I am a fan of Guinness...even named my dog that! We are all going to have to get togther again soon!

Hey there Shnick, yup thats a Z55. Just got it last week, so far so good! It is by far the nicest pack I have owned. A bit heavy but can handle the weights I will be taking on canoe trips. I really like the exterior pocket on the back. Great place for wet gear.

Ya Bubba thats how I learned to build a fire as a scout.

    Favorite backwoods experience ever:

Solo hike, started late. I planned to cross a talus slope and camp at a nice developed spot in the old growth with a nearby creek. Due to the late start, there was no way I'd make it out of the talus before dark...

I tied off my hammock to two carefully selected boulders on the bare slope, and slept under a moonless, cloudless night sky. Normally with a hammock you get stuck under a forest canopy, but on this solo hike the silent symphony of the stars drowned out every other noise. Beautiful.

I love camping with people, but solo is a whole different pleasure.

    Were you using tree huggers?
Looks like plain amsteel around one tree but that pic didn't look
like a hammock, maybe a gear loft, just curious ???
Thanks for sharing your experience. I loved my time in Ontario-something like 200,000 lakes there
