I actually have this bag and love it. The fit and comfort are awesome. It was a great bag for the 12 day hike that I took in 2007 and again in 2010 to Philmont BSA Ranch in New Mexico. I put in 90 mile on each trip and at least another 75 each year in over night training trips. I also use it when ever I go camping for one or two nights. I have no less then 400 miles with this backpack and it is still in great condition.
wetcatcarl, I am not sure what year yours is but I just wanted to tell everyone a little about the REI Mars bag since it has been my goto bag for almost 5 years.

This is a great bag. Had mine for years. All the bells and whistles. Durable, reliable, well thought out, not ultralight but carries a lot comfortably when that's what you need to do.
