    Treeless setup???

    Here's my question...

I am new to the exciting world of hammock camping...

Some of the places I camp does not have easy access to trees so I need a solution that does not require trees...

I have read some other threads that use conduit or wood to make the uprights...

Here is my situation weight is not an issue...length of the uprights is...I would be using these out of my Jeep Wrangler so a 5 - 6 foot upright could be a challenge...

    Any suggestions???

Using your vehicle as a support can help. Not so easy with one vehicle, except you're half-way there...

Use a guyed bipod with two piece uprights, either threaded pipe, or telescoping tubing. Wrangler on the other end. Easy.

Where in Va are there no trees? I bet you can find at least one and tie the other end to your Jeep. Or use telephone a pole, deck & porch supports, bridge pilings, rocks.. if you know how to use tri-cams.
But a stand made to attach one end to your Jeep would be feasible. We've been kicking around an idea to incorporate one into the hitch receiver.

Exactly! I use my boat/luggage rack when I have too.

But what if we could make something for the other end like a pipe tripod staked out or secured in some other way?

I have done this...I don't have pics, but a simple bipod works just fine. A long rebar stake and a ratchet strap provides the support on one end, and the tarp's crl on the other. When I'm done, the rebar gets driven down below grade to rust. Dust to dust.

Wish you had some pics... or at least a drawing?
