Hey all,
I've been reading the forum for quite some time now and finally decided to get around to joining. I feel like I have too many questions (and a few answers here and there) about hanging to just lurk any longer.
I split my time between Middle Tennessee (greater Nashville) and East Tennessee (Smokies and Blue Ridge Mountains). I have been long into camping, hiking, and canoeing. I love the outdoors and "bushcrafting" but have always hated the idea of tent camping. I don't remember what it was that piqued my interest in hammock camping but after trying it out courtesy of a clearance sale at the then-bankrupting K-mart, I was hooked.
I have always enjoyed building and creating things. After reading a little about them, and investigating different hammock options I decided that making one would be more cost-effective, higher quality and, of course, completely custom. I borrowed the girlfriend's sewing machine, did a self-taught crash-course on how to use this new, unexpectedly complex machine, and started sewing.
This led me to HF, and the incredible wealth of not just DIY, but general hammock information. I know I'll continue to learn a lot here and I plan to contribute as much as I can.
