This was my 1st time this year in the hammock. I used a friends a couple times last year and loved.

I'm still learning a few things and I thought I would pass them along.

    1. even though my feet were higher than my head I still found myself sliding down at night. Last year when I used my friends I did not have this problem. The solution I think is to hang the hammock with more tention. I also tend to think that it depends on your build. I'm fairly stocky from years of lifting weights and playing sports. I think that is why I slide down because I'm broad and thick.

Last year I hung the hammock fairly taught but after being on this forum I thought I would try it with a little more slack.

    2. I need a pad or something under me. Last year I slept in colder weather with my winter back and did just fine with just my jacket under me. I used my 20+ bag and tossed and turned with cold spots all night, even with my jacket under me. I want somthing very lightweight. I think I'll go to home depot and see if I can't pick up some of that window reflector stuff. You know, the silver bubble wrap type stuff.
Dude very sweet pics. I just got chased outta there with some buddies about three weeks ago. We tried to do the Highline Trail and got spanked by really bad thunderstorms with hail and the works. Much fun though even still. That trip is one of the reasons I just picked up my Clark UL. Can hang almost anywhere you wanna up there do to all the trees, except on the bald spots but I would never camp on a pass just because of the way the weather works up there. Give a yell if you ever wanna do a weekender. Couldn't kill anything myself but appreciate your abilities and doooooo love my Elk steaks and chilli. My boss is a huge hunter and he gives me a bunch of meat each year. I will cook anything just cant kill it, even have a hard time killin fish anymore, but I do cause I lovem. Tasty little critters them trout are.

Yea, the Uintahs are a great place. I don't have a problem with anyone that doesn't like to hunt. But if you eat meat and then try and tell me that killing an animal for food is wrong then we won't see eye to eye. But I respect your decision, and yea. Them trouts are good eats so is Elk stew.
