    WTB: 8x10 tarp or bigger

    Yes another WTP tarp request.

I ordered the Guide Gear one just to be disappointed with the sky I could see through it, and it being the wrong size. So here I am looking for a better tarp.

Looking for something from Warbonnet, a Mamajamba or superfly, Jacks R Better 11x10' would work well also. I'd like to pay <$100 shipped if possible. Small non-functional blemishes OK as well.

My hammock is a DIY camo 1.1 ripstop with a 100" ridgeline.

    Thanks all,
    dave

If you are looking for something comparable to the GG in size and price but actually WORKS and is sized as advertised ... I can highly recommend the Chinook.

Some places you can find them for $30ish. Great tarp - a bit heavy - but a lot of bang for your buck.

Of course not a WB or JRB, but in the same price range as a GG.

I saw that one, do you have any idea what it weighs? I couldn't find it anywhere, the I saw this "nice" ones and thought maybe I'd get lucky and could get a nice one.

No idea on the weight of the 12 x 9.6. My 12 x 14 weighed in at around 2 lbs.

It all depends on the coverage you are looking for.

There are plenty of smaller dimension tarps out there like the Wilderness Logics Tadpole, Warbonnet Edge, OES Micro, the list goes on and on.

They are going to cost a bit more than the Chinook and offer less coverage but weigh less.

Someone mentioned something along the lines of tarp purchasing consisting of three elements - large-coverage, low-weight, and low-cost.

You often can't have all three.

I have seen in other threads that the Chinook 12x9.5 weighs 1.82 lbs. Just got mine in mail yesterday but haven't weighed it yet. I have been using an 8x10 Wal Mart tarp. I'm happy with Chinook!

These things just go too fast!

I went the easy route and bought a superfly from Warbonnet. Was more $$ than I wanted to spend, but I know it will work for me for a very long time.

My hunch is you will be happy with that tarp. The good news too is that if you are not, the re-sale on Warbonnet products is exceptional.

Keep your eyes open for some of our Texas Group Hangs and join in when you can. There is a big one each November and others at random times throughout the year.
