    Sewer Wanted

Would like to hire the services of one of you who likes to make their own gear. I'd like to have two quilts made; one for use as an underquilt and the other a top quilt. Jacks R Better has quilts that would work but I can't stand the day-glo green. I'm looking for more subdued earth tones to go with my camo tarp and grey hammock.

I will naturally pay for your time and all materials and realize these will likely cost more than a comparable JRB quilt, I would not be asking if I wasn't serious about this project.

Please PM me if you are willing to take the time to sew me two quilts.

Edit: I have already priced the materials needed for these two quilts and I'd go through the hassle of buying the materials myself and sending directly to you.

    Thanks

cant be of much help, but just thought I'd add to the day glo green dillemma... their quilts do not have differential baffles and that being the case, you can turn them so the black side is out (underquilt)
    it works both ways.

Good point. I'm also looking at using slightly different material (Momentum) for these quilts. MLD has a nice Momentum/Climashield quilt that would work for my summer top quilt but I want a Momentum/Down combination for my underquilt. I'm also a pretty big guy and have custom dimensions already planned out as well.

Check with Preacha Man - I know his wife was doing quilts b4 they took off for the summer. I thought he was going to start back up soon, although I know they were planning on pre-building some tarps so they had them ready to ship. I don't know if they are taking orders for quilts anymore. They are good people, and will do you right (if they are still in the business of sewing custom orders!)

ok, Tobit and I have reached an agreement (so far, so good) and it looks like he found a monkey I mean a contractor to make his items.
I'd be happy to meet your request, thanks for the opportunity. Mike

Just ordered all materials! This is gonna be cool.

Edit: Although ordering 6 bags of 900 down was a tough pill to swallow.

You will not be dissapponted with the 900 down or the momentum90. I still have 4 bags to make a quilt.

I hope Pan and Smee take note of this. I know they are nice guys but their "Henry Ford" color selection chaps me a bit.

Well, although I used JRB as an example, I have no real qualms with them at all. I actually own a JRB quilt. It would be nice if they offered other colors but I understand why they don't. They do make an all black quilt, the Stealth, for those of us who don't like bright green. However, this isn't suitable for me as it's too small.

I wish the Preecha's Wife had better success with her initial effort to do custom sewing. I do believe there is enough business for it to be successful for the right person. However, there appears to be so much demand out there, albeit seasonally, that it would require a dedicated full-time, 9 to 5 effort in order to meet customer expectations.
