Hi guys. I’m new to the forum although I’ve been lurking and reading for a little while. I’m approaching the subject of hammocks from a slightly different angle than most here. I’m no stranger to camping, but fairly new to hammocks. With me, it’s all about comfort. As the screen name implies, I’m an old guy. I’ve also had a long history of back problems for more years than I care to recount, which leads to my interest in hammocks. I’ve read numerous accounts by people with similar problems praising the benefits of sleeping in a hammock. After doing some research I took the plunge and bought a large Brazilian style hammock and stand which is set up in my house as a bed. It took a little getting used to, but I now sleep comfortably in it every night. I love the thing! This summer I’ll be trying a couple of different kinds of hammocks in camp. My back packing days are far behind me, so weight and bulk are not a problem. I’ve slept on a cot in camp for many years, but I may have found something better.
