Since I've cut so much bulk and weight getting out of the tent, my pack is way too big...and it's all your fault
I guess it's also a reason to upgrade from the 5.2lb pack I've got now. Looking at the Osprey Exos 46.

Terrible! Absolutely terrible! New gear?!! I cringe to think of having to get some great new kit!

Osprey is a sweet pack. I got a Kestrel and love it! There are lighter weight options for sure, but Osprey is a beautiful pack

Sounds like an excellent excuse to buy new gear to me!

I personally have the Osprey Exos 58 and love it. There are tons of features you can get with it and I find the 58 to be just the right size. I did try out the 46 as well and found that if I need to bring some extra cold weather gear that the weight difference between the two versus the capacity wasn't that much as well as the fact that they both cinch down nicely to keep gear tightly placed. One nice feature is that regardless you have a water insert area and the mesh vented back. Listed weight for the 46 in a medium size is 2 lbs. 5 oz. and listed weight for the 58 in a medium size is 2 lbs. 8 oz.
The only other pack in the UL category I would suggest and have tried out would be a goLite but you lose a lot of the tie points etc. Certain models are 100% water proof though and that could be a factor. However be aware that these are pretty much a 1 size fits all concept but have adjustable straps etc.
Thanks for the info about the two sizes. In regards to winter, I think I'll keep my Kelty (4700 cu in) for that purpose. I love the thing and can't get rid of it It's totally bulletproof and served me well for 6 years and still looks new. But it's becoming overkill as I lighten up.
FYI - FedEx just dropped off more gear - a box with my new Marmot Never Summer 0° bag for when I'm camping "that other way". All I can say is....INSANE DOWNACTION!!
Get the Osprey and your wallet will be alot lighter too!
I went with a ULA Catalyst. But, then last week at the REI garage sale, I found a Flash 65 for $40 with my coupon!
