    Pad Pattern

Just picked up some CCF, and would like to know if rectangular or asymmetric patterns are best.

One pad is 60 inches wide x 6', and the other pad is 48" x 6'.

Any ideas? Rectangular with rounded corners, parallelogram (i.e., slanted rectangle) or trapezoidal?

Sorry, I'm probably not much help. Mine is a rectangular one that's only 24" wide. I just put it between hammock layers at an angle. Occasionally, it'll just miss my outside shoulder, but it generally covers pretty well and stays put.

Is the Exped a single-layer or double-layer? I'd imagine you'd probably want a larger one for a single-layer, since it's more likely to slide around.

Do you stay in one place or move around alot? If you have one favorite position, you could have someone trace a rough outline while you lay in your hammock on the ccf. That would at least give you a starting point.

...just some random thoughts. I'm definitely not an expert on the subject.

i think rectangle, but I use UQ. A pad isn't something that needs to be overdesigned to me. I guess if you were super UL, you could round the corners, but then if you were super UL, you might be using it as a frame for your pack and need the corners.

When you put your pad in the hammock the way you lay, you will see very clearly what needs trimmed off as far as length and edges. The corners will definitely come off...as for the rest have a friend help you and you'll be done in no time. K.I.S.S approach
