Dutch Clip-On Pull Tie Outs (COTPOs) Mod

I had thought about this the second I saw it. One of the annoying things about the WBBB shelf is the tie out doesn't always work right with a low tarp or there is also the trip line inside the tarp.

I simply added a loop to my COTPO and tied off to it. Using a clipped mitten hook makes this a quick set up and removal.

Depending on the angle you could step (trip) over. If I'm stickin' around camp though I'd probably leave it unclipped until night time and then I don't have to step over or under. As to tension it depends on how tight you tie your guyline (how short you tie it).

I'm not using the COTPOs, but since I need to seam seal the sewn on POs on my BMJ sooner or later (I've had it a year now, and still haven't done it), maybe I'll sew a loop on the inside before sealing them. I find myself not using the shelf tie out because of the tripping/ low tarp issue, and using the shelf more as a "pocket", but this may be the ticket to holding the shelf a little higher.

If you're doing it that way I recommend using shock cord to keep from either putting to much pull (tear) on your tarp or it hanging too loose. The COTPO is pulled on the other side with shock cord which makes it work so well.

I would have just set it up and dealt with it. Never thought about just clipping it up for the night.

I see this as a great application when sleeping over water. No need to let the shelf and entrance pull outs just hang in the water.

On my new tarp from AHE, I ordered it with pull outs with inside loops to tie out the BB on the entry side. I was hoping to make a quick connect/disconnect system using Dutchware. On the other side, I've been using the shelf as a pocket, but my newly acquired BBO requires a tie out, so I am hoping that works well. One issue I've found is that the tarp needs to hang low enough to position the pull out lower than the hammock edge to make the shelf work. On the shelf side, the Dutchware COTPO's may work better because it is positionable. Looks like I'll need to put another order in to Dutch!
