    No Camp Fire ????

Ok, I have been camping for about 30 years, (Ex U.S.M.C.,3rd recon and Ex boy scout) even doing the survival camping with only the 5 C's of survival and I have noticed that 95% of the pics. and vids., of hammock campers have no camp fire and use the little rocket stoves,,,,why is this?????

+1! Most developed tent sites have been scoured of firewood, but one reason I hammock is to avoid those places. Camping without fire? Sad times.

I live in the middle of the Shawnee Ntl. forest in Southren Ill and we can always have a fire, is it due to fire bans in some places.

Fire bans: Texas last summer when the whole state seemed like it would burn down

Another reason is that when putting in high mileage days where.camp consists of filling your belly and going to bed, a stove, alky or canister, is simply easier and quicker.

However, when miles are low and the camping part consist of lolligaging, a fire ban would be the only excuse not to have a fire, IMO.

Some times I have a small fire, some times i dont- depends on the trip and whats happening. If I do have a fire, its not because I need one- its purely recreational!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Hmmmm. I think that's common to all hammockers. It's those t@nt people that are up at the first shred of light, rubbing their backs
